I went to São Paulo last weekend, to see my girlfriend and friends, and to unwind a little from work. In one of our window shopping sessions, I found a Japanese ink pen.
Normally I would just focus on drawing materials, but this time around, I bought something meant for writing. Perhaps it's the effect of binge-watching BunguStore shorts. Perhaps it's my love of written mail. I couldn't resist the temptation, and so I purchased it: a Pilot Penmanship.
Soon after arriving home, I tested it. I wrote some letters, some words, and I noticed how delightful it is to have a tool that is fully meant to enhance the pleasure of writing.
Cheap ballpoint pens are good and all for everyday use, but this tool really makes the act of writing a deliberate and thoughtful process. The texture of the paper passes through the rigid and smooth nib, leaving expressive lines that just can't be achieved with other pens.
After appreciating its sturdiness and precision for a while, I wrote a letter and drew a small thing with it. Drawing with this pen was challenging and not as enjoyable as writing, but it was worth the attempt.
Now, I want to write more and more letters. They're cheap to send away, and it's a lot of fun! Of course, you don't need a fountain pen to write letters, but I'll definitely say that a proper writing tool really shows you how fun writing can be.
