This week was difficult to me. It seems like everything decided to act up at the same time: in chronological order, I had no electricity for 2 days due to a storm that felled over 50 trees all over my city; the Brazilian election had abysmal results, causing my friends and I to become anxious and upset; my uncle passed away in the hospital; and as if they could sense misfortunes, a bunch of household appliances just decided to break down to add insult to injury.
Even in this situation I tried to be positive. Not in a toxic way, of course: it's important to feel sad and be angry at things. I too was frustrated at all the things that happened. But I recover quick from ill temper, and I know that mistakes, errors and tragedies are just temporary. I was able to overcome these problems, and I had saved up emergency funds for these times.
What I really want is to be that kind of friend that people can count on. I may not be able to solve everything, but I want to show that at least, there is good moments to be had even in the darkest of times, and should the darkness grow to the point of feeling insurmountable, I will be present, working as hard as I can.
It is easy to capitalize on panic during those times, but I don't think that's the way to go. I really believe in the goodness of my friends and this is why I insist in fighting the good fight. I may be just one guy, but even a single person may be able to tip the scales.
I am grateful for being able to overcome all these problems with serenity in my heart, and I will do my best to engage positively with people around me. That would be my wish for the rest of this year.
