I am still sleepy and restless: it's Friday and it will be a long holiday. I'm going to see my girl after a month: I love her and miss her so much.

Before the trip, though, I was scrolling my Youtube app on my phone, as anyone would, and I found a video in favor of AI art. And it was quite long.

Now, here's the spoiler: I did not watch the video.

I considered watching it to see if there was some kind of nuance, or some kind of argument that could be useful. At the very least, I would be more apt to discuss it properly: after all, by watching the video, I would be able to criticize it and opine on it.

 But I gave up.

Much value is put on nuanced thoughts, and I agree with this notion. In the age of bombastic, eye-catching one-liners, tailored to grab the attention of already tired and overstimulated middle-aged people like me, having a deliberate and nuanced view on things is important, since as you would know, nothing is black-and-white in life.

But I'm also a human being, and a flawed one at that. There are times I really cannot bring myself to be nuanced, nor work up an appetite to do so. I do not want to humor the idea of thinking positively about AI art, or consider fringe cases where AI art would be useful.

AI apologists demand nuance from us, when we were stripped of our value, our self-worth and consent without any nuance whatsoever. Why should I be the one to be considerate and kind?

Right now, I feel exhausted and sick about AI generation. It is everywhere, from the large companies to mom & pop shops. It's in my friend's avatar, in the ads plastered on city walls during my commute to work, and in TV programs that I used to enjoy watching.

There's little reason for me to be charitable about AI. Even if the video I saw the thumbnail of were well-researched and well-crafted, I'm at a point in my life that I'd rather not engage with it. I feel like I've given AI generation too much leeway to preserve the good coexistence between friends and colleagues, and it's starting to wear out.

I don't want to hear anyone say that "they only use AI generation at work" or "AI art can be good in some cases" at all. I'm going to ignore it. I'm not giving it my precious time, which is already quite scarce.

I'm going to work now. Take care of yourself.
